Technical Superintendent (LPG Tankers)

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Technical Superintendent to join a well-established and international ship owner that is based in Singapore. The Technical Superintendent will oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of vessels, ensuring adherence to industry standards and supporting the technical performance of the fleet.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in vessel management, of LPG tankers and has a strong understanding of technical operations, and a hands-on leadership approach.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee Class and Flag State survey schedules to ensure all statutory and classification certificates remain valid.
  • Manage the planned maintenance system (PMS) and provide technical guidance on vessel maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead the end-to-end drydocking process, including specification development, budgeting, tender evaluation, and on-site supervision.
  • Review and approve store and spare part requisitions to support efficient vessel operations and cost-effective procurement.
  • Monitor and analyse vessel performance, including drydocking expenditure, bunker consumption, and lubricant oil usage, to drive operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections and technical audits to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Investigate technical issues, manage non-conformance reports, and ensure timely resolution of defects in accordance with Class and charterer requirements.
  • Support newbuilding projects, vessel conversions, and sale and purchase activities by preparing technical specifications and conducting technical inspections.
  • Mentor and provide technical support to procurement personnel as well as senior shipboard officers, including Masters and Chief Engineers.


Requirements:

  • Certificate of Competency (Class I) / Chief Engineer Foreign Going.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent and sailed up to Chief Engineer on board vessels.
  • Preferably with exposure to Duel Fuel especially LGIP/VLAC and VLEC vessels.
  • Strong technical knowledge in ME-C engine.
  • Good leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in staff management, including appraisals and KPIs.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to work under pressure.
