Technical Manager (Chemical Tankers)

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Manager, Technical for one of our global shipping clients. He/ she will oversee the technical operations of the company’s fleet of vessels managed by third-party ship managers.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring marine safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The Technical Superintendent will collaborate closely with the ship managers to analyze performance data and provide technical expertise to optimize vessel operations.

Responsibilities

Marine Safety, Quality and Efficient Operation

  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of vessels managed by third-party ship managers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to ship managers to ensure efficient and safe vessel operations.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot technical issues, leading the formulation and implementation of effective countermeasures.
  • Conduct vessel inspections at ports and dockyards to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Arrange and participate in meetings with ship managers to review operational performance and discuss improvement strategies.

Shipmanagement:

  • Collaborate in the development of budget plans and effectively manage vessel expenses.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Facilitate conditional maintenance procedures to enhance vessel reliability and operational longevity.
  • Plan and coordinate retrofit modifications to vessels, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Develop response plans to address new regulations and industry developments, ensuring timely adaptation and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime or Marine Engineering. Chief Engineer (COC) certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of onboard sea service on tankers, with a strong background in chemical tankers.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent for chemical tankers within a ship management company.
  • Thorough understanding of marine safety regulations, industry best practices, and technical standards.
  • Proficiency in analyzing vessel performance data and implementing operational improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities
