We are looking for an experienced and proactive Technical Advisor for one of our global shipping clients. The Technical Advisor will support their customers with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation of marine engines and related onboard systems, including remote/online monitoring across Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.
The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years of engine technical support / field service / marine-mechanical engineering roles, with strong troubleshooting exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point-of-contact for customers; provide expert troubleshooting and operational guidance.
- Lead/support root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
- Advise on preventive maintenance, technical upgrades, and best practices to optimise performance.
- Analyse engine/system data (including remote monitoring dashboards) to improve efficiency, emissions, and reliability.
- Provide technical input for service execution (overhauls/repairs), ensuring alignment to OEM standards and customer requirements.
- Coordinate closely with internal service teams (field service/workshop/spares) for seamless delivery and issue resolution.
- Support commercial activities where needed (technical proposals, customer queries, solution presentations).
- Prepare clear service/technical reports and maintain proper documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, maritime, and safety requirements during onsite activities.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 3+ years in engine technical support / field service / marine-mechanical engineering roles, with strong troubleshooting exposure.
- Comfortable engaging customers across APAC; strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with ERP/documentation processes (SAP is a plus).
- Good written/spoken English.
