We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient and cost-effective technical management of assigned chemical tanker vessels. This role will work closely with ship managers, internal stakeholders, shipyards and external partners to ensure vessels are maintained to high operational, safety and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent managing oil/ chemical tankers. Prior sailing experience on tanker vessels, ideally chemical tankers will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day technical management of assigned vessels to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.
- Monitor maintenance, repairs and machinery performance, and follow up on technical issues with ship managers and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing and controlling technical budgets, including dry-docking and major repair costs.
- Review vessel maintenance reports, fuel/lubricant analysis and technical performance to support asset reliability and long-term maintenance planning.
- Ensure flag, class and statutory surveys are properly monitored and deficiencies are rectified promptly.
- Investigate major machinery failures, technical incidents and accident reports together with relevant internal teams.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor dry-dockings, major repairs and modifications to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct vessel visits and condition inspections and follow up on findings with ship managers.
- Keep up with regulatory and industry developments to support compliance and continuous improvement.
- Support technical discussions relating to crew competence, technical briefings and seminars where required.
Requirements
- Degree in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
- Class 1 Marine Engineer (Motor) COC or equivalent is preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent.
- Prior sailing experience on tanker vessels, ideally chemical tankers.
- Strong technical knowledge of ship machinery, maintenance, dry-docking and marine regulations.
- Good understanding of budget control, repair planning and technical troubleshooting.
- Able to work closely with both internal teams and external ship management partners.
