We are looking for an energetic and self-driven Category Lead (Senior Manager) for one of our global shipping clients. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role is accountable for structuring procurement spent into strategic categories, driving measurable savings, strengthening supplier partnerships, and ensuring strong governance and audit readiness.
The ideal candidate would have proven track record in engaging confidently with senior stakeholders, strengthen contract governance, and guide a small team of category purchasers to deliver measurable savings and operational excellence. He/she would have at least 5 years of experience in contract management in the marine or offshore procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead category strategy and segmentation to drive consolidation, leverage and value creation
- Analyze spent data to identify savings opportunities, efficiency gains, and service/quality improvements.
- Drive strategic sourcing and negotiate strong framework agreements (pricing, credit terms, service levels, rebates/value programs)
- Strengthen contract management and improve compliance/adherence across global procurement activities
- Build high-trust partnerships with senior leaders across the technical fleet management team and all other relevant departments within the organisation.
- Act as a bridge between internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure procurement supports broader business priorities.
- Lead procurement reporting initiatives for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team to deliver procurement reviews and strategic recommendations.
- Lead structured supplier relationship management with key maritime vendors globally.
- Travel frequently to align stakeholders, strengthen supplier partnerships and support business priorities
Requirements / Qualifications
- 10+ years in Procurement/Supply Chain, including 5+ years in senior Category Management
- Strong exposure in maritime procurement / fleet-related categories (technical spend preferred)
- Proven track record in negotiation, strategic sourcing, and contract governance
- Mature and confident senior stakeholder management style (able to influence and challenge constructively)
- Strong operational discipline, governance mindset and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with procurement tools (ERP, reporting dashboards, Power BI etc.)
- Willing to travel frequently.
