Senior Chartering Manager Cum Owner’s Representative

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Chartering Manager to join a growing dry bulk shipping company in Singapore. This role requires a seasoned professional with in-depth knowledge of dry cargo chartering and an understanding of the unique needs of a start-up company in the maritime industry. The successful candidate will also serve as the Owner’s Representative, overseeing the company’s interests in all chartering and operational matters.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Chartering & Commercial Management:
    • Lead the dry bulk chartering operations, ensuring competitive and cost-effective transportation solutions for clients.
    • Manage all commercial aspects of chartering, including negotiations, contract management, and market analysis.
    • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key charterers, owners, brokers, and operators.
    • Handle various dry cargo commodities, including steel, minerals, fertilizers, grains, coal, bauxite, and iron ore, across global routes (Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans).

  • Owner’s Representative:
    • Act as the liaison between the company and vessel owners, ensuring that all interests are aligned.
    • Oversee vessel performance and operational efficiency, ensuring vessels are fully optimized in terms of scheduling, costs, and performance.
    • Ensure adherence to company safety, quality, and compliance standards across all operations.

  • Strategic Planning & Development:
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic business objectives in dry bulk shipping.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize chartering operations and reduce logistical costs.
    • Analyze market trends, track fleet performance, and recommend changes to improve overall service offering and profitability.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in chartering management within the dry bulk shipping industry.
  • Proven track record in handling diverse dry cargo commodities, including steel, coal, bauxite, iron ore, etc.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience managing commercial relationships with clients, vessel owners, and brokers.
  • Solid understanding of the dry bulk market dynamics and chartering processes.
  • Experience as an Owner’s Representative, with the ability to act as the key point of contact for operational and commercial matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
