We are looking for an experienced and resourceful DGM/Snr Manager, Vessel Acquisition & New building for one of our global shipowner clients. The role will be responsible to oversee vessel acquisitions, newbuilding procurement and fleet investment initiatives.
The successful candidate will be involved in developing fleet investment plans, evaluating vessel procurement opportunities and leading commercial engagements with international shipyards. This position requires a combination of strong shipping market knowledge, commercial negotiation expertise and financial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute fleet investment and vessel procurement plans in support of the organisation’s medium- to long-term business objectives.
- Manage newbuilding and vessel acquisition projects, including commercial evaluations, procurement strategies, contract negotiations and delivery coordination.
- Lead negotiations with international shipyards on vessel pricing, construction terms, contractual arrangements and delivery schedules.
- Evaluate vessel investment opportunities through commercial assessments, financial analysis, profitability projections and feasibility studies.
- Monitor developments in international S&P and shipbuilding markets, including newbuilding prices, yard availability, market conditions and commercial opportunities.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with shipyards, S&P brokers and other relevant maritime stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal technical, commercial, finance and legal teams to facilitate procurement decisions and project execution.
- Prepare commercial proposals, investment assessments and market recommendations for management review.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business, Finance, Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with a shipowner, shipping company, shipbroker or related maritime organisation.
- Proven experience in vessel Sale & Purchase (S&P), newbuilding procurement and/or vessel acquisition activities.
- Good understanding of shipbuilding markets, vessel pricing, commercial contracting and shipyard negotiation practices.
- Strong exposure to international shipyards, particularly within the Chinese shipbuilding market.
- Good commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate vessel investments and assess project profitability.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Business-level proficiency in English and Mandarin/Chinese to support commercial discussions and negotiations with Chinese counterparties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
