We are looking for a proactive Port Captain for one of our global shipping clients. He/she will be responsible for overseeing and managing vessel operations for the company’s fleet of 3rd party vessels. The ideal candidate would have working experience as a Captain or Chief Officer onboard bulk carriers and have at least 1-2 years of shore-based experiences in similar capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage vessel operations to ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, company policies and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with shore-based teams to optimize port operations, focusing on steel cargo handling and grain transportation efficiency.
- Utilize expertise in steel cargo handling and grain transportation for safe loading, stowage, and discharge of cargoes.
- Effectively communicate with Chinese-speaking crew members, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to maintain a cohesive and skilled team.
- Act as a liaison between the vessel and onshore stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections to uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with port authorities, agents, and relevant entities to facilitate port calls, berthing, and compliance procedures.
Requirements:
- Valid Master Mariner Certificate or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Experience working as a Captain or Chief Officer.
- Strong experience and knowledge of steel cargo operations and grain transportation.
- Familiarity with port operations and regulations in Southeast Asia.
- Strong decision-making skills are essential.
