Port Captain (Breakbulk/ Project Cargoes)

We are looking for an experienced Port Captain for a global shipping company. The Port Captain will oversee and coordinate the safe, efficient, and cost-effective handling of the client’s project, breakbulk, and heavy-lift cargoes. He/she will act as the company’s operational representative at ports across the Pacific region, ensuring compliance with safety standards, proper cargo stowage, and smooth communication with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate would have proven track record in handling breakbulk. Project cargo, OOG and heavy-lift cargoes. The role also requires travelling overseas frequently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise cargo operations at ports, terminals, and during vessel calls.
  • Develop and review stowage, lashing, and lifting plans for complex cargoes.
  • Collaborate with stevedores, surveyors, and terminals to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD or similar CAD tools for planning and execution.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure cargo safety and compliance with operational standards.
  • Travel as required within the Pacific region to support vessel and cargo operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Seafaring background as Chief Officer or Master preferred (Engineer background may be considered).
  • Proven experience in handling breakbulk, project cargo, OOG, and heavy-lift cargo (mandatory).
  • Strong port operations experience and knowledge of terminal procedures.
  • Skilled in planning and execution of cargo operations with CAD tools.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently.
