Marine Superintendent (DPA/CSO/HSEQA)

We are looking for an experienced & proactive Marine Superintendent for one of our shipping clients. The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for managing all the company’s owned bulk carriers and ensuring that they are in compliance with flag and company requirements on safety operations.

The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years of marine superintendent experiences in managing bulk carriers and have proven record in educating, coaching and guiding the shipboard management team within the areas of marine safety enabling the vessels to operate without compromising safety standards.  

HSEQ Matters

  • SMS In charge
    • Evaluating Company KPI’s, Near Miss reps, Incident/accident investigation reports, safety meetings, safety drills etc)
    • Quality Management viz SMS updates, Circulars, training requirements etc.
    • Developing/Overseeing Training Materials & fleet vessel’s Audit Planning.
    • Office Audit Planning/execution (Class DOC)
    • Vessel Internal Audits & Vessel Inspection Visits by Marine Department
    • Preparation of Quarterly and annual Management reviews.
    • Corrective Action Report (CAR) and close the outstanding

PSC/ Rightship Matters:

  • PSC/Right ship inspection preparation notifications to Operations/ Technical Team and Vessels.
    • Right ship inspection Booking.
    • Organize Pre-Right ship examination by 3rd parties in co-ordination with ops and technical team.

Crew Matters:

  • Crew Selection & Interviewing Masters & C/Os.
    • Marco Pay; ITF,SMOU,SOS, Collective Bargain Agreement
    • Extra work Allowance, Bonus payment to crew
    • KARCO Training

Marine (Operations) Matters:

  • Day to Day Correspondence on operation Matters and Vessel movement monitoring/ Noon Reports.
    • Voyage execution as per CP requirements.
    • Work in Tandem/closely with the commercial team on their requirements:
      • including Pre-fixture & Post Fixture assistance.
      • Issuance of required LOP’s by Master at Load port/ Disport.
  • Vessel preparation for the voyage / cargo matters including:
    • Assisting and verifying Stowage Plans received from the vessels
    • hold cleaning/testing & stowage and carriage requirements
    • Required monitoring during the passage.
    • Liaise with P and I club for survey, appointment, damage, shortage etc.
    • Reviewing Underperformance claims.
  • Work closely with technical department for safe & successful voyage execution.
    • Ensuring required inventories for Cargo related equipment are maintained onboard.
    • Flag & External Class Audit arrangements.
  • Handling Emergencies
  • Attending office audits
