Decarbonisation Analyst

We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful Decarbonisation Analyst for one of our global shipping clients. This role will be responsible for managing carbon credit derivative trading, conducting analytics, and overseeing Fuel EU pooling, monitoring, and monetization. It also involves hedging biofuel feedstock, generating sustainability and ESG reports. The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years of relevant experience in ESG, EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), and carbon management, with proficiency in carbon analytics and data interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fossil Fuel and Carbon Credit Trading:

  • Execute and manage derivative trades related to carbon credits and Marine fuels.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting carbon trading.

Carbon Credit Analytics:

  • Analyse carbon credit markets to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Provide detailed reports and insights on carbon credit performance.

Hedging for Biofuel Feedstock:

  • Manage hedging activities to mitigate risks associated with biofuel feedstock.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust hedging strategies, as necessary.

Fuel EU Pooling, Monitoring, and Running:

  • Oversee the pooling of Fuel EU resources, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of pooled resources.

Monetisation of Pooling:

  • Develop strategies to monetise pooled resources effectively.
  • Track and report on the financial performance of pooling activities.

ESG Initiatives:

  • Promote and implement aggressive ESG strategies within the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with ESG regulations and standards.
  • Support, analyse and report on the companys carbon emissions across all scopes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree/Diploma in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in ESG, EU ETS, and carbon management
  • Strong understanding of fuel trading, carbon credits, and related markets (Carbon Scope 1, 2, and 3)
  • Familiar with shipping industry practices.
  • Experience managing fuel hedging activities.
  • Proficient in carbon analytics and data interpretation.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to sustainability.
  • Proficient in carbon analytics tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
