Chartering Manager (Bulk Carriers)

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Chartering Manager for a dry bulk shipowner that is based in Singapore. He/she will be responsible for managing the chartering operations of their fleet of handy-sized vessels. This role involves developing and maintaining strong relationships with charterers, brokers, and other stakeholders, as well as negotiating and securing profitable charter agreements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the dry bulk market, a deep understanding of market trends, and a proven track record of successful chartering.

Key Responsibilities:

Chartering Operations:

  • Manage the day-to-day chartering activities for the company’s fleet of handy-sized vessels.
  • Identify and secure profitable charter opportunities in the dry bulk market.
  • Negotiate charter party terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial and operational objectives.
  • Monitor vessel performance and ensure compliance with charter party obligations.

Market Analysis and Strategy:

  • Conduct regular market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the dry bulk market.
  • Develop and implement chartering strategies that optimize vessel utilization and maximize profitability.
  • Provide market intelligence and insights to the senior management team to support strategic decision-making.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, brokers, agents, and other key stakeholders in the industry.
  • Represent the company at industry events, meetings, and negotiations.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and resolving any issues that may arise during the chartering process.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on chartering activities, market conditions, and vessel performance to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all chartering transactions and communications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in ship chartering, with a focus on handy-sized vessels and the dry bulk market.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of securing profitable charter agreements.
  • In-depth knowledge of the dry bulk market, including market trends, freight rates, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
