Business Development Associate (Newbuilding)

We are looking for a forward-thinking and customer-oriented Business Development Associate to be based in Singapore for a globally reputable ship manager to support the growth of their newbuilding supervision business. As a commercially minded maritime professional, you will identity global market opportunities, build high-level stakeholder relationships and execute complex commercial proposals in a dynamic international environment.

The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, 3-5 years of prior sales experience within Shipping especially within the new building supervision business, the readiness to travel extensively and possesses effective interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the newbuilding and maritime services sectors.
  • Build and maintain high-impact relationships with shipowners, shipyards, leasing companies, and maritime investors.
  • Monitor global fleet expansion plans and shipyard activities to identify emerging commercial opportunities.
  • Lead the coordination and preparation of high-quality proposals, tenders, and commercial presentations.
  • Partner with internal technical and operational teams to design competitive and technically sound customer solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and customer insights within the CRM to support global strategy.
  • Represent the company at major industry exhibitions and high-level customer meetings globally.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of sales/ business development experience within Shipping/ Ship Management, ideally within the newbuilding supervision business.
  • Must be ready and willing to travel extensively internationally to visit shipyards and clients.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and possess a “relentless” approach to business development. 
  • Proven ability in interpersonal communication and stakeholder management, with a track record of navigating complex maritime deals.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct competitor and market analysis to support commercial objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
