Assistant Manager, Chartering (Tankers)

We are looking for a self-driven & commercially minded Senior/Assistant Manager, Chartering for a global shipowner based in Singapore. This is a good job opportunity for someone with strong tanker experience who is keen to be closer to the commercial side of the business. The role will be involved in the chartering, marketing and employment of the company’s tanker fleet across assigned trade routes.

Candidates with prior chartering experience will be strongly considered. We are also open to experienced tanker vessel operators who have good voyage execution, vessel scheduling, cargo nomination, and commercial awareness, and are keen to develop their career further in chartering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing chartering activities and vessel employment opportunities
  • Handling CoA nominations and execution
  • Preparing voyage estimations, freight calculations, and commercial proposals
  • Monitoring vessel schedules to support optimal deployment, turnaround, and voyage profitability
  • Working closely with operations and technical teams to ensure smooth voyage execution
  • Conducting market research to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Drafting and reviewing charter party agreements
  • Supporting commercial budgeting and forecasting activities\
  • Liaising with internal teams on post-fixture matters, invoicing, disputes, and contractual issues
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, shipowners, charterers, and customers


Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of total working experience in the tanker shipping sector
  • Experience may be gained from vessel operations, chartering, or a combination of both in oil, product or chemical tankers.
  • Good understanding of tanker operations, voyage execution, cargo nominations and vessel schedules
  • Exposure to voyage estimation, freight calculation, CoA administration or chartering activities will be advantageous
  • Strong commercial sense and interest in market development
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-moving shipping environment
  • Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline
